We had an earthquake today! No, we don’t live in California. We live in VA! It was definitely a surprise to be making a late lunch for the toddler when the whole house started shaking. Turns out it was a 5.8! I really didn’t expect to ever feel something past a 3 here on the east coast, but I guess anything is possible!
Jax didn’t seem to notice. I picked him up and got away from the windows and the hanging wine glasses that were rattling and shaking. The dogs seemed fine too. I didn’t see any damage to the house and nothing fell.
The US Geological Society has a website for kids about earthquakes, though Jax is to young still to need explanations.

I live in NY and I felt it yesterday, but I wrote it off to a big truck going by! ha!
One time when I was vacationing in California they had a big earthquake (I want to say maybe an 8??), but as it turns out that day we were about 3 hours away at Disneyland! Didn’t feel it there. Came home to everything knocked off the shelves — looked like the place had been ransacked — and a bunch of messages on the answering machine asking if we were okay.
