Link-o-rama

Happy Tuesday! Last night was rough (toddler teething), so it feels like the week is lasting forever. But, the baby is napping, chick pea & veggie curry is in the slow-cooker and I’m settled in working.

Here are some links I’ve collected lately:

  • I don’t take sugar in my tea/coffee, but I adore these DIY sugar cubes!
  • I’ll be posting another quiet book page today. I posted a sneak peek on Facebook.
  • Aw! My boys are in a photo contest! (And so am I!)
  • Treehouses! Go, look!
  • A glitter play dough tutorial.
  • Here’s a video of Jax saying a few words. He doesn’t always like to parrot words back for me, but I am going to try to record him regularly.

We went apple picking today (I’ll post pictures soon!) and it put me in the mood for all things October!

I’m planning a Halloween craft tutorial for this month, once I finish designing it and get a couple supplies I’m missing.

Here are some autumn and Halloween links to inspire you!

Happy Wednesday! How is your week going? I’ve been busy working, sewing and toddler-wrangling. I’m in the drawing stages of our next quiet book page, and have a bunch of ideas simmering for others.

I plan on making an iSpy bag that can detach from a page in Jax’s book. But, I need to collect a bunch of tiny treasures to put into it (like under-an-inch tiny.) If you have anything you can send our way, let me know!

Here are some fun links for you:

  • This link is partially for a friend whose youngest rocked a sushi costume last Halloween, and another friend who has twin boys. Just look at the wasabi and ginger on the hat! I like the milk/cookie/cookie monster set, and the Eric Carle costumes are adorable!
  • Bake a heart (or any shape) into the center of a cupcake!
  • I love Gap’s Portabello line, but don’t love their prices. Make It and Love It has a tutorial for making your own Union Jack jeans! I’m thinking of making it as a little patch to sew on Jax’s jeans (since his 18m – 2T jeans are too tiny to fit into the sewing machine.)
  • I’m Finnish on my dad’s side (if you couldn’t tell from my maiden name of Innanen!) I never knew that the government gives out “baby boxes” to new mothers. How sweet!
  • I stick blank paper in my bag when we go out to eat so Jax can color while we wait. I like this idea for making art tubes to drawings don’t get crunched up.
  • Grow your own pineapple from the top part you just throw away anyway. (Mel, you should do this!)

Two more days until the weekend. Hang in there!

It’s only Tuesday?? Well, at least Monday is over! I have another quiet book page cut out, but I still need to sew it tonight. Hopefully I can have it ready to post tomorrow.

Loving It – Vintage Schoolhouse

Today is the first day that feels cool and crisp like fall here. Children are back in school and I’ve been inspired by a recent trend in nursery decor with a vintage/retro schoolhouse feel.

Wooden School Bus toy. Mini ABC Flashcards. Richard Scarry’s Great Big Schoolhouse (come by Sunday for more about Richard Scarry.) Tidy Ruler Retro Wooden Ruler with Pencil and Sharpener. Vintage magnetic chalkboard. 4 function ruler pen. Lowercase alphabet poster.

This afternoon I’ll be posting my next quiet book page and pattern – a sweet forest scene! Happy Friday!

How is your week going? It feels like it should be later in the week than Wednesday by now! Besides work and toddler-wrangling, I am starting another quiet book page.

Here are some links that caught my eye…

  • Someone built the house from “Up!” (A movie that made me CRY!)
  • I didn’t try to hit up Target for the Missoni collection yesterday. Alas, not in the budget. Anyone want to make Jax a small blanket inspired by their bright zigzag pattern? I crochet, but too slowly!
  • I heart all things chalkboard paint, so I’m all for this board book makeover!
  • This onesie bunting from Tradewind Tiaras couldn’t be more perfect for a baby shower! I bet you could use scrapbook paper as well.
  • I’m up to my eyeballs in felt lately, so this sweet leaf garland caught my eye.
  • What do you get when you combine my two recent addictions: spray paint and thrift store shopping? Check it out!

It’s been another crazy week here. Only one day with a sitter watching Jax, so working has been challenging. And let’s not even talk about chores! Are you ready for the weekend?

  • I’m in love with this baby shower sushi idea! A fun change from diaper cakes and onesie cupcakes.
  • This gorgeous lamp was made with a Sharpie paint marker!
  • These handmade envelopes would make giving gift cards much more personal.
  • I’ve been trying to sketch my quiet book ideas on-the-go with my finger and my iPhone. How amazing is this tablet?

Happy Friday! We “survived” an earthquake, and now there is a hurricane heading towards the east coast, including our beloved Outer Banks. Please stay safe, everyone!

Did you have a nice weekend? They always go so fast… Jax has started teething again. He’s working on his canines now. Rough nights ahead!

I love having a little boy, but I am a little sad about the lack of Hello Kitty in my house. I grew up with her (and My Melody & Little Star Twins!)
